What is a good alternative to StarByFace?

StarByFace (also called Celebs Like Me) is a free celebrity look-alike site from 2018: you upload a photo, its server compares the face with celebrities and shows the most similar ones, and the site is supported by ads. FaceTwin does the same job in a different way. Its face model runs inside your browser, compares a 128-number descriptor of your face with 2,333 public figures and returns your top five matches with a similarity percentage and the traits you share — such as face shape, brows or jaw — without uploading the photo or asking for an account. If privacy matters to you, or the upload queue is busy, FaceTwin is a free alternative; if you just want a quick second opinion, it is fun to compare both. Neither site is affiliated with the other.

How StarByFace works

StarByFace describes itself as a celebrity look-alike application in which “the neural network compares the person with celebrity faces and suggests the most similar ones.” In practice you choose a photo, the page resizes it and sends it to the StarByFace server for recognition, and the results page shows the celebrities its model ranks as closest. When many people use it at once, it can place you in a queue. We could not find a published photo-retention period linked from its homepage when we checked, so read its terms if you plan to upload.

How FaceTwin finds your look-alike without uploading

  1. When you pick a selfie, a face model (about 12 MB, cached after the first visit) loads in your browser.
  2. It finds your face, places 68 landmarks and computes a 128-number face descriptor — on your phone or computer.
  3. That descriptor is compared with the descriptors of 2,333 public figures, built from openly licensed Wikimedia Commons photos.
  4. You get the five closest faces with a similarity percentage and the measured traits you share, plus a share card.

Because the work happens on your device, you can load the page, switch off Wi-Fi or mobile data and run it again — it still works. Your photo is never sent to our server for the free results.

Doing the TikTok StarByFace trend with FaceTwin

The trend is simple: take a selfie, run it through a look-alike finder and post your top matches. You can make the same video with FaceTwin:

  1. Open this page on your phone and upload a front-facing selfie (good light, no sunglasses).
  2. Screen-record while your matches appear — the similarity scores show up in seconds.
  3. Tap “Share my top 3” to save a ready-made card with your photo and your three closest matches.
  4. Use Women, Men or Everyone to see who you resemble across the whole list.

Only use your own photo, or a friend’s with their permission. Results are for fun — they are not identity recognition and say nothing about the people listed.

Why results differ between look-alike sites

Every look-alike finder uses its own face model, its own celebrity list and its own photos of those celebrities, so two sites rarely agree on the exact order. Your own photo matters just as much: lighting, angle, expression and glasses change the face descriptor. For a fair comparison, use the same front-facing photo on both sites and look at the top three rather than the single first name.

Frequently asked questions

Is StarByFace accurate?

It is a fun tool rather than a precise one, and so is every celebrity look-alike finder: results depend on the face model, the celebrity photos it uses and your own picture. Treat the top few matches as a game, and compare a couple of photos — the same applies to FaceTwin.

Is StarByFace safe?

Its page uploads your photo to its server for recognition, and the site shows ads. We did not find a published photo-retention period linked from its homepage when we checked (October 12, 2026), so read its terms before uploading. If you prefer not to upload, FaceTwin compares faces in your browser and never sends the photo for the free results.

How does StarByFace work?

You choose a photo, the page sends it to StarByFace’s server, and its neural network compares your face with celebrity faces and lists the most similar ones.

Is there a StarByFace app?

StarByFace works in a mobile browser. FaceTwin also works in your phone’s browser without installing anything — open the page, upload a selfie and you get your matches in seconds.

What are sites like StarByFace?

Celebrity look-alike finders that compare your face with famous people. FaceTwin is one that runs entirely in your browser, shows a % match for the top five and explains the shared features. Our guide to choosing a look-alike website lists what to check before you upload anywhere.

Is FaceTwin the same as Celebs Like Me?

No. Celebs Like Me is the name StarByFace uses on its site. FaceTwin is an independent site and is not affiliated with it.

How do I do the StarByFace TikTok trend?

Upload a selfie to a look-alike finder, screen-record your matches and post them. With FaceTwin you can also save a share card of your top three matches.

Is my photo uploaded?

Not for local lookalikes or face analysis: the model runs in your browser, so your selfie, landmarks and descriptor stay on your device. AI portraits, including the first free one, and full reports send your photo through our server to the AI provider after sign-in, a credit purchase or a free-preview request and separate upload consent. Reports also send your numeric measurements. FaceTwin does not save the original photo; it is discarded from request memory after processing.
